The Scottish Society of Jersey was founded in 1928. For more information make sure you read about Our Events, Membership, History of the SSJ and the Constitution and rules of the Society.

The objectives of the Scottish Society of Jersey are:

  • To promote social and friendly contact amongst members.
  • To encourage the study and preservation of the history, folklore, language, literature and music of Scotland.
  • To help members and others residing in Jersey in times of adversity.
  • To render assistance to benevolent or charitable bodies, which in the opinion of the General Committee, are worthy of support.

Activities and Functions

A whole range of activities and functions are organised throughout the year. They include social occasions for the whole family, a celebration for St Andrew's Night and Burns' Night. There is a traditional Burns' "Stag" Supper and traditional Hogmanay party.

The Committee seek dance bands and guest speakers locally and from far and wide, to enliven proceedings.

We work closely with other Scottish related associations in the island such as the Jersey Caledonian Pipe Band, the Mary Walledge Highland Dancers and the Jersey Caledonian Scottish Country Dance Group.

The Society is also a member of the Burns Federation.
